NEW HOME
Sanjukta Ajinkya MAS ’21 recently moved into his new home and is settling in with his dog Kyzer..

NEW FELLOW (FACHE)
Fallon D. Wallace, FACHE, MS, MBA, CSSGB, passed the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Board of Governors Exam in July, and is now a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives(FACHE).

2010s

Chirag Sangappa, MS ’21 (Supply ChainManagement) and Spandana Skandan, MS ’21 (Biomedical Engineering) met at UTD and married Aug. 28. Chirag noted, “These precious years (at UTD) became the cornerstone of our decision to commence anew adventure together.”

NEW SURGERY CHIEF
Dr. Joseph M. Forbess, MBA’16, has joined Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS) as chief of the Section of Cardiovascular (CV) Surgery, and assumes a leadership position within the Nicklaus Children’s Heart Institute

NEW ASSISTANT DEAN
Rice University’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies has announced Kristen Schlatre as its new assistant dean for professional and corporate programs. Schlatre earned a graduate certificate in executive and professional coaching from JSOM.

MARKETING ACADEMY FELLOWSHIP
Gerald Youngblood , GLEMBA,’10, was selected for The Marketing Academy’s US Fellowship Class of 2023

SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
Three MS Supply Chain Management students at the Naveen Jindal School of Management, UT Dallas earned a scholarship from the Transportation Club of DFW (TCDFW):
Vikram Modi, Abeer Sholapurkar, and Shilpa Ganesh – John Fierst,program director of MS Supply Chain Management.

Valor, a Fort Worth-based specialty asset management company, has named Liz Johnston director of Relentless Innovation. Johnston is an EMBA student at JSOM.

PAPER RECOGNIZED
The paper “A Multi-Treatment Forest Approach for Analyzing the Heterogeneous Effects of Team Familiarity” recently placed in these competitions at Performance Outcome Management Systems (POMS) colleges:

  • Runner-up, POMS College of Healthcare Operations Management Best Paper Award, 2023
  • Runner-up, POMS College of Service Operations Management Best Student Paper Award, 2023
  • Finalist, POMS College of Operational Excellence Young Scholar Best Paper Competition, 2023

This is joint work with UTD professor Guihua Wang, who is an active researcher and became Sydney Smith Hicks Faculty Fellow recently. Minmin Zhang, fourth-year PhD candidatemin Operations Management.

APPOINTMENTS OF STEPHENS, AKARTE
On behalf of Dr. Hasan Pirkul, dean and Caruth Chair, Jindal School of Management, as of June 13:

I am pleased to announce that Tim Stephensis being appointed as the Program Director for the BS in Computer Information Systems and Technology, effective immediately.

We are also appointing Prajakti Akarte as the Director of BS in Business Analytics, effective Aug.1.

FORD HONORED FOR DEI CONTRIBUTIONS
At the 50th anniversary elebration of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Division (formerly the Gender and Diversity in Organizations Division) during the 2023 Academy of Management Annual Conference in Boston, Ma., August 4-8, Professor Emeritus Dr. David L. Ford, Jr. was recognized as one of 70 longstanding members of the division.

ONE TO FOLLOW, ALSO COMMUNITY SERVICE
Gaurav Shekhar has been named one of 99 Data Influencers to Follow 2023 by Data Science Connect.

Shekhar also received an award for Outstanding Community Service from the CIE and the Office of the Mayor, City of Richardson, presented by Mayor Pro-Tem Arefin Shamsul.

Carol Marcus-Rehtmeyer, executive director of the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at The University of Texas at Dallas and an associate professor of instruction in the Jindal School’s Organizations, Strategy and International Management Area, was a panelist recently in the DFW Alliance of Technology and Women’s Speaker & Networking Series. She spoke in the organization’s DEI Executive Forum Oct. 12 in a discussion about post-pandemic business outcomes for women in tech. The theme of the forum was Moving the Needle for Women in Tech.
