New Council Members Broaden Jindal School’s Industry Opportunities

Vice President of Preconstruction
Austin Commercial

Brian Andrews is vice president of preconstruction at Austin Commercial, one of the largest commercial contractors in Texas, where he oversees the estimating and preconstruction efforts. Andrews joined Austin in 1998, and has held multiple positions in the estimating, project management and preconstruction groups for the past 23 years.

Andrews earned a bachelor’s degree in Construction Science from Texas A&M in 1998 and, in 2014, an executive MBA from UT Dallas.

In his current role, Andrews leads the effort to ensure Austin continues to provide “best in class” preconstruction services. He has held Certified Professional Constructor and LEED AP Building Design + Construction certifications and is the qualifying agent for Austin Commercial’s licensure in Alabama, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

A North Texas native, Andrews has served as president for the Markout Water Supply Corporation Board of Directors in Forney, Texas, and has served on the board of directors for the DFW Technology and Education Council of North Texas.

“As an alumnus of UTD, I’m excited to work with the University to explore opportunities to align skills and expectations of students with those that are present in the corporate world,” he said. “The impact that construction and the real estate market have on the local and national economy is substantial, ultimately almost twenty percent of the GDP. The opportunities for the graduates of the Jindal School are broad and I hope my experience can lead to enlightening students and staff about these diverse opportunities.”

Wells Fargo & Company

Todd Burns is an executive vice president and division executive for Wells Fargo Commercial Banking. Based in DallasFort Worth, Burns leads teams in Dallas, Fort Worth, West Texas and Oklahoma focused on serving the financial needs of companies with annual sales ranging from $10 million to over $2 billion.

Burns joined Wells Fargo in 2021 after serving as managing director and region manager for Middle Market Banking at JPMorgan Chase. In that capacity, he led a team that focused on companies in Dallas, Fort Worth, and West Texas. Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Burns spent the bulk of his 30-year career with Bank of America, where he held various client-facing positions in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Burns earned his BBA and MBA degrees in Industrial Marketing and International Finance from the University of North Texas in 1993 and 1994.

A current member of the Dallas Regional Chamber Board of Directors, Burns co-chairs their Innovation Task Force. He has held board positions for Downtown Dallas, Inc., Junior Achievement and Dallas Arboretum and has served on various advisory committees for United Way and March of Dimes. Burns is a 2006 graduate of the Dallas Regional Chamber Leadership Dallas program.

Burns lives in Flower Mound with his wife, Stacy, and has two college-aged children.

After his first council meeting, Burns said, “Wells Fargo has developed a strong relationship with UTD and its Advisory Council over the years, and I am excited to be the newest member of this highly impactful group. The work being done by UTD is exemplary and Wells Fargo is proud of the partnership. We are committed to further advancing UTD and its impact on the Dallas-Fort Worth community.”

Americas Manager of HR Shared Services
Fujitsu

Amy Hanks has served as the Americas region manager of HR Shared Services at Fujitsu since April 2021. Her primary responsibilities include managing the shared services and operations team, driving strategic automation through Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and regional program harmonization.

For two years she led the WIN (Women’s Innovative Network) – Fujitsu’s first and largest employee resource group in North America, with a mission to bring employees together to support, empower, guide and inspire women to achieve their full professional and personal potential.

Hanks joined Fujitsu in 2010, supporting Fujitsu Network Communications in a variety of roles including university recruiting, compensation and Human Resource Information System (HRIS) implementations. She served as the project lead to create a shared services operation for HR support in the Americas region, consolidating teams from three subsidiaries to offer services to 20 Fujitsu subsidiaries.

Hanks holds a Master of Science in Human Resources from Texas A&M University. She is a Society of Human Resource Management Certified Professional and Professional of Human Resources.

In her spare time, Hanks stays busy keeping up with her two daughters and their activities, traveling with her family and volunteering at her church.

Upon joining the Dean’s Advisory Council, Hanks said, “I am excited to represent Fujitsu and continue our longstanding partnership with UTD, and collaborating with the Jindal School specifically. As an employer in the community that regularly recruits from UTD, we find that this partnership is beneficial for all parties!”

Chief Marketing Officer
The Beck Group

Chad Schieber is chief marketing officer for The Beck Group, leading marketing, business development and sales strategy. Schieber joined Beck in 1997 and has held various positions in client services and marketing for more than 10 years.

Previously, he worked for Peter Beck, the firm’s executive director, and was staffed on-site on construction and development projects. He also worked in Beck’s estimating department and as the firm’s internet strategist.

Schieber served on the board for the Southwest Chapter of CoreNet Global. He completed his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation and his Masters of Corporate Real Estate designation through CoreNet. He was on the board of CitySquare and served on the organization’s Community Development Corporation. He is an alumnus of Leadership Dallas, an active member of The Real Estate Council (TREC) and a graduate of TREC’s Associate Leadership Class.

Schieber earned his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri, Columbia, in 1996, and his MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2001.

Family is important to Schieber. He and his wife, Laura, are parents to 17-year-old twin boys and a 16-year-old daughter.

In joining the Advisory Council, Schieber said he and his wife feel a strong connection to the Jindal School. “We both received our MBAs at UTD and have been proud to see the school rise in the rankings each year,” he said. He added that The Beck Group sponsors an endowment in the new real estate program where they award scholarships to students from the program annually.

“This allows us access to some of the best and brightest as Beck Scholars and maintains our connection to the talent graduating from UTD,” he said.
