The American Academy of Family Physicians presented its Robert Graham Award to Dr. Christopher Crow, EMBA’03, for demonstrating outstanding leadership skills in a health care organization. Crow is CEO of Catalyst Health Group in Plano.

In a Linkedln post, Crow stated that the award “belongs to the entire Catalyst Health Group team who work together every day to make a difference in primary care. Let’s keep pushing forward, challenging the old ways, and finding new paths to help people live longer, healthier lives”.

The Credit Union of Texas gave a cash gift of $15,000 to the Naveen Jindal School of Management this semester to support two Lean Six Sigma projects. It also donated two workstations for JSOM’s FinTech Center.

Angela Faust, EMBA’18, BS’10, is senior vice president and COO of CUTX. She was instrumental in procuring the gift.

A paper co-written by by Dr. Alejandro Zentner, an associate professor in the Finance and Managerial Economics Area at the Naveen Jindal School of Management, was published in the November 2024 issue of the Journal of Public Economics. The study – “Toward an understanding of tax amnesty take-up: Evidence from a natural field experiment” – found that tax amnesty programs, when combined with strong deterrence messages, significantly increased debt repayments, especially from large firms, without causing a significant drop in future tax compliance.

Don Taylor, a professor of practice in the Jindal School’s Executive Education Area and director of the Alliance for Physician Leadership, was appointed to the Healthcare Standards Institute Foundation Standards Board, where he will help guide the organization’s efforts in developing and promoting best practices in healthcare management.

Dr. Stan Liebowitz, Ashbel Smith Professor in the Finance and Managerial Economics Area in the Naveen Jindal School of Management, retired in August, having served on the faculty since 1991. Dr. Diane McNulty, associate dean for external relations, communications and corporate development at the Jindal School, said Liebowitz was a prolific researcher and an expert in all facets of digital piracy.

“He will be missed by all,” she said. “He was a trailblazer in his field and had too many awards and honors to mention.” Liebowitz was also a former associate dean at the Jindal School.

The UT Dallas Psi Chi, chapter of the Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Fraternity won several regional awards from the national body: the R. Nelson Mitchell Outstanding Collegiate Chapter Award, Most Improved Collegiate Chapter, Outstanding Service Award for a Collegiate Chapter and Outstanding Scholastic Development Award for a Collegiate Chapter. Dr. Sarah Moore, an associate professor of instruction in the Jindal School’s Business Communication Program, Provost’s Teaching Fellow and Secretary of the Academic Senate, won the Chapter Advisor of the Year Award.

Students from the Naveen Jindal School of Management recently took first place and $5,000 representing the Herbert D. Weitzman Institute For Real Estate in a case competition hosted by the Dallas chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management. The competition, which kicked off Sept. 27, tasked students with developing a management plan for an underperforming industrial property located in Grand Prairie, Tex. The presentations took place Oct. 25 and the UT Dallas team, consisting of Kiana Razdar, a finance senior; Tommy Cherucheril, a finance junior; Andrew Nguyen, a finance junior; Jaqleen Phan, a business administration junior; and Franklin Avera, a finance freshman, came out on top. This was UT Dallas’ third first-place finish in four years and the second victory in a row. Julie Lynch, an associate professor of practice at the Jindal School and director of the Weitzman Institute, was the team’s faculty advisor.
