Honoring 34 years of service and counting

David Springate
David Springate

Dr. David Springate joined the UT Dallas School of Management faculty full-time in 1988 as an associate professor of finance. In 1991, he was appointed the school’s first associate dean for executive education and, in that same year, founded UT Dallas’s EMBA program. In 2009, he co-founded the Jindal School’s Center for Finance Strategy Innovation, where he continues to serve as a co-director. Throughout his 34- year career at the Jindal School, he has been an instructor for every Executive MBA class since the program’s inception and 1992.

Earlier this spring, the Jindal School recognized Dr. Springate’s soft retirement. He will continue serving UTD as a Professor Emeritus in the Finance Area.

In Memoriam

Larry Merville

Larry Merville joined the University of Texas at Dallas in 1973 as a Full Professor of Finance before retiring as a Professor Emeritus in 2002

During his nearly thirty years at UT Dallas, he served the Jindal School in many capacities. In addition to his work in the classroom, Merville also served as chair of the Finance Area and later Assoc. Dean of the School of Management, as well as authored the MBA program.

Emre Soykok was a Ph.D. student in the Finance Area. Earlier this year, he co-authored a paper recently published in the International Review of Finance. “Term premium dynamics in an emerging market: Risk, liquidity, and behavioral factors” will be published in the November issue of the publication.
